Chartered Management Institute (CMI) Level 5 in Leadership and Management

This fully accredited and nationally recognised qualification is aimed at practising or aspiring managers and leaders who are typically accountable to a senior manager, director or business owner. The primary role of a practising or aspiring manager and leader is to lead and manage individuals and teams to deliver aims and objectives in line with organisational business plans and strategy.
The course is run over 4 non-consecutive days and is fully accredited with the CMI awarding 9 credits (so the full Award and only a few credits need to be added to achieve the  Certificate!)


Assessment is normally via practical work-based assignments provided by Oxford Applied Training as your Approved Centre. This ensures you minimise time away from work and that you undertake work study which is relevant to your own organisation's context.

Course Syllabus

1.1 Explain the links between individual, team and organisational objectives
1.2 Identify the selection of individual and team objectives for agreement
1.3 Identify areas of individual and team responsibility in achieving objectives
1.4 Identify the need to create an environment if trust and support with others
2.1 Evaluate individual and team performance against objectives
2.2 Examine methods of feedback to individuals and teams in relation to their performance against agreed objectives
2.3 Examine the cause of conflict and strategies to minimise or prevent conflict
2.4 Explain recording systems for performance assessment for individuals or teams
3.1 Explain how the Performance Improvement Cycle can support an individual and the team to improve upon their performance
3.2 Discuss the indicators of poor performance
3.3 Evaluate a range of methods that support performance  improvement
4.1 Explain the organisation disciplinary and grievance procedures

So a very comprehensive toolkit for a manager!
