Oxford Applied training offer management courses accredited by The Chartered Management Institute (CMI). Our delivery is flexible giving individuals and their employers a range of flexible study options to accommodate busy established and aspiring executives.

Award, Certificate or Diploma?

We understand that personal development is a process and not an end in itself, so our accredited qualifications give you the opportunity to build up your management skills over time and in stages. You can start at any level depending on your background and experience. And remember, our team of experienced course advisers are a phone call away from you and are happy to guide you through the best learning pathway for you or your staff.
Our CMI accredited qualifications are delivered at three different levels, depending on how in-depth the qualification is and how long it will take you to complete it.
Award is the shortest and most concise qualification - takes between 1 and 3 months.
Certificate provides a broad base of knowledge and skills - takes between 3 and 6 months.
Diploma provides a comprehensive and extensive programme of learning - takes between 6 and 12 months.

Units and Credits

Our CMI qualifications are divided into units, which have a credit value that tells you roughly, how long it takes to complete - one credit represents about 10 hours' work.
Awards are 5 to 10 credits (50 and 100 hours' learning).
Certificates are 13 to 20 credits (130 to 200 hours' learning).
Diplomas are 37 or more credits (370 or more hours' learning).

CMI LEVEL 3 IN FIRST LINE MANAGEMENT

Who is it for?
The Level 3 qualifications in First Line Management are developed for junior managers, supervisors and first line managers who have operational responsibility for a defined area of activity and who wish to build on and develop their existing management skills and knowledge. This qualification gives junior managers the communication and motivational skills to help improve operational efficiency.
what levels can It be taken at?
This qualification can be taken at 3 different levels:
AWARD: Our Level 3 Award in First Line Management provides an introduction to the skills, roles and responsibilities of this management area. It will also develop your basic knowledge by focusing on the development of specific management skills.
CERTIFICATE: A more extensive qualification, our Level 3 Certificate in First Line Management gives you a broader knowledge of effective management skills while focusing on the specific management areas appropriate to you and your workplace.
DIPLOMA: With a more comprehensive structure, our Level 3 Diploma in First Line Management gives you all the key skills and competencies you'll need to become an effective first line manager.

How is it Assessed?
Assessment is normally via practical work-based assignments provided by Oxford Applied Training as your Approved Centre. This ensures you minimise time away from work and that you undertake work study which is relevant to your own organisation's context.
Personal Development Pathway
On successful completion of a Level 3 qualification in First Line Management, a number of progression opportunities become available:
Progress to other qualifications at the same level (e.g. from Level 3 Award to Level 3 Certificate etc.)
Progress to other qualifications at the next level (e.g. from Level 3 Certificate to Level 4 or 5 Certificate)

LEVEL 4 IN MANAGEMENT AND LEADERSHIP

Who is it for?
The Level 4 qualifications in Management and Leadership, designed for junior managers, are designed to develop personal management capabilities, and grow professional management skills including decision-making, managing team dynamics and delegation capability
what levels can it be taken at?
This qualification can be taken at 3 different levels:
AWARD: Our Level 4 Award in Management and Leadership allows you to develop your knowledge of the roles and responsibilities required in management and leadership by focusing on specific skills areas.
CERTIFICATE: A more extensive qualification, our Level 4 Certificate in Management and Leadership gives you a broader knowledge of the skills needed to be an effective manager, while focusing on the specific leadership areas appropriate to you and your workplace.
DIPLOMA: With a more comprehensive structure, our Level 4 Diploma in Management and Leadership gives you all the key skills and competencies you'll need to become the manager you want to be.

Level 5 in Management and Leadership

Who is it for?
These qualifications are aimed at practicing or aspiring managers and leaders who are typically accountable to a senior manager, director or business owner. The primary role of a practicing or aspiring manager and leader is to lead and manage individuals and teams to deliver aims and objectives in line with organisational business plans and strategy.
what levels can it be taken at?
This qualification can be taken at 3 different levels:
AWARD: Providing an overview of the roles and responsibilities required for managers, the Award will develop the skills required for this level of responsibility.
CERTIFICATE: The Certificate provides a broader knowledge of skills to help you be more effective in specific management areas, with increased focus on the areas that are most appropriate to your role and organisation.
DIPLOMA: The Diploma gives you a fully comprehensive bank of the skills and knowledge required to be a manager as part of an organisation, as well as the ability to apply your learning in the context of another organisation or industry sector.
