Coaching in any aspect of life is known to promote effective communication, boost confidence, improve work performance and build strong connections with your peers. Coaching in the workplace is extremely important as it passes on valuable skills, shapes employees and effectively allows those who are being coach to then be able to go on and coach another.
The role of a manager essentially is to become a coach to your peers and those who work around you. When being coached, the better the employee performs, the better they compete their tasks. This sense of achievement is then channeled through their work and in turn can result in a multitude of achievements such as a more positive workplace culture, strong relationship with management and even potential for promotion. As the coaching continues the employee feels listened too and place trust within their coach.
This is a similar outcome with the coaches themselves. Through the progress of the individual they are coaching, they feel rewarded and more motivated as they can also see the positive effects that coaching has had on themselves. They have a better understanding and relationship with employees , improved performance within teams and themselves and improvement in their personal leadership skills. This also allows managers to pinpoint possible leadership potential.
Coaching through a pandemic has . Our own Leadership and Management Skills Coach Chris Gurdev gives his view-
"Coaching will be critical when it comes through working/adapting alongside the pandemic as we learn to live with the virus, we will need to understand how we can support/coach and mentor one another and the people we are supporting. We now must become more meaningful and impactful in our approach as the medium may change, however the need will not only remain the same but intensify. How we were coaching before the pandemic will need to change, because everything around us has, and will continue to do so, this is our opportunity to really innovate and use the technology around us to our advantage, it's not what we cannot do, more what if, or how about?
