This training course looks at the historical context and provides a clear overview of the Mental Capacity Act (MCA). It defines capacity and what that means to the individual, and provides an understanding of the laws and legislative guidelines, including expectations of the Care Quailty Commission. It also examines significant sections of the MCA and how these are enforced, as well as the roles and responsibilities of those involved in capacity issues and making decisions, and the support of public bodies.

This course is intended for all levels of staff, and prior knowledge is neither assumed nor required.
